Kanye introduced rappers to singing and (along with T-Pain) made autotune popular. A fantastic way to close off the album.Ĭonclusion: I hope this album was therapeutic for Kanye because he let all of his feelings out on this album. The raw emotion of this track gets to me. It's the closest I've ever come to legitimately crying to a Kanye track. Kanye sings about a variety of things but the one that resonates the most is when he talks about his mother's death. It's probably the most fitting way to end the album honestly. Pinocchio's Story (Freestyle Live From Singapore):
It's a powerful track on an album full of powerful tracks. On this song, he sings (without autotune) about how losing the two most important women in his life has turned his life upside-down.
Thankfully, Kanye rebounds with one of the most important songs on the album. Lil Wayne's bad guest feature doesn't help. It's the only time on the album where Kanye's autotune singing becomes annoying. There's not much to say about it.Įasily the worst song on the album. It's decent but kinda forgettable song on the album. Kanye sings about his ex-fiancé cheating on him. My favorite song on the album and one of my favorite Kanye songs ever. The production on this song is depressing and it fits the song better than any other beat could. It could also be taken as a reaction to his mother's passing. Kanye sings about how his life has lost its meaning and worth due to its repetitiveness. Out of all the songs on this album, this one is the darkest. It brings the song down a bit, but I still enjoy it. It's another good song but something about the way Kanye references RoboCop is kinda corny. Kanye uses the reference to RoboCop to express that the girl in the relationship has a lot of distrust in him. Kanye sings about another failed relationship. The chorus gets me singing along every time. The track is poppy in all of the right ways. Kanye's autotune singing really hits home here. I can't help but dance every time this track comes on. I also absolutely love the beat on this track. This time, Kanye is the one breaking things off because he's being controlled by this girl too much. Jeezy, admittedly, kinda takes me out of the song every time his verse pops up but it's short so it doesn't hurt the song that much.Īnother relationship song. Kanye sings about his career and how it's been great. I absolutely adore the drums on this track. The production on this track is unbelievable. While Kanye's lyrics are important, it takes a backseat on this song to the production. The upbeat production clashes with Kanye's lyrics and I think that's why it doesn't click for me as hard as some of the other songs on this album do. It's strangely enough one of the more upbeat songs on the album. He discusses his struggles with a relationship that ended badly and how it ended badly. Kanye cuts right to the chase on this song.
I absolutely love the production on this track. Kanye sings about his struggles to connect with his family and a normal life because of his fame. On an album with sad and depressing songs, Welcome To Heartbreak stands out. The first real instance of Kid Cudi's influence on this album. Overall, a great introduction to the album. The production is really ahead of its time and I love it. West's singing on this song is alright but the lyrics and the overall sentiment of this song are powerful. It sets up the themes of sadness from Kanye, how the production is going to be, and that Kanye is going to use autotune throughout most of the album to express his sadness. This song lets us know that this won't be a normal Kanye album. This song is an excellent introduction into the album in multiple ways.
